Avril Dulas, 87, Alden

Avril Dulas, age 87, of Alden, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells.

The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Alden Cemetery.

Avril (Gillson) Dulas was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Wells, the daughter of Allen D. and Leila Gillson. She graduated from Wells High School and Mankato Teachers College.

She married Marvin Dulas on July 23, 1941.

Avril was a teacher in the Wells and Alden School Districts.

She was also employed at the YWCA in Albert Lea and was the city clerk in Alden for many years.

She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, the Alden American Legion Auxiliary, Alden Tuesday Study Club, Alden Book Club and the Alden Senior Citizens.

Avril is survived by two daughters: DeAnne Huisman of Albert Lea and Carolyn Steele (Franklin Jr.) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister: Marchel Wells of Fairmont; four grandchildren: Patricia Biggins of Albert Lea, Cindy (Jeff) Wilke of Albert Lea, Jennifer Huisman of Albert Lea and Michael (Jamie) Steele of Lennox, S.D.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Dulas; her parents Allen and Leila Gillson; son-in-law Sterling Huisman; and grandson-in-law Paul Biggins.
