BRICELYN &8212; Six Bricelyn homeowners and one business owner will open their doors Saturday for the city&8217;s seventh annual Tour of Homes.
Sponsored by the Bricelyn Area Historical Society, the event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. with a special art exhibit by Tieta Amberg at the Bricelyn Community Center on Main Street. Tickets will be $5.
&8220;Each one has its own little thing of interest,&8221; said Esther Ziemer, of the society, about the different participants. &8220;People will not be disappointed because there&8217;s something of interest in every single home.&8221;
The tour is one of the society&8217;s two major fundraisers of the year and includes the following homes and business this year:
– Betty Leland, 4758 530th Ave., County Road 2
This home was built in the &8217;80s, although people in Leland&8217;s family have lived in that same area since the Civil War, Ziemer said.
– Kim and Steve Jacobson, 50777 110th (the old Highway 16)
Although this home has been on the tour before, this year the Jacobsons have redone every room in the house, so it will feature many new ideas, Ziemer said.
– Donna Holmseth, 106 N. 5th St.
The Holmseth home, which Ziemer compared to a California-style home, is just a &8220;cozy, little, different style of home for Minnesota,&8221; she said.
– Pat and Brian Rike, 505 N. Secor St.
The Rike home is filled with antiques, and it will be amazing for people to see, Ziemer said.
– Jane Spaulding, 106 N. Secor St.
Spaulding moved to Bricelyn from St. Paul in January, and Ziemer said Bricelyn is blessed to have her there.
– Bush Creek Boutique, Main Street
This business has recently recovered from a fire a while back and will open up to visitors during the tour, she said.
The same night as the tour there will also be the lighting of the hospice tree in the city park in Bricelyn at 6 p.m. with refreshments following in the lobby of the State Bank in Bricelyn.
In addition to the tour, the society is also sponsoring a holiday concert on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Free Baptist Church in Bricelyn. A free will offering will be accepted.
Refreshments will be served afterward at the senior dining center.
