Marvin Anderson, 83, Glenville

Funeral services for Marvin R. Anderson, age 83, of Glenville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle. The Rev. Jeff Wallager will officiate. Interment will be in the Wanderer&8217;s Rest Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen&8217;s Organizations. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/ Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Marvin died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa.

Marvin Raymond Anderson was born Feb. 13, 1923, to Emil C. and Silda (Wolff) Anderson in

Northwood, Iowa. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Northwood and confirmed at the Hayward Lutheran Church.

Marvin attended schools in Glenville and Albert Lea. He served in the United States Army during World War II from January 1943 to January 1946.

Marvin was with the 735th Tank Battalion in Europe with the 3rd Army.

He received all five campaign awards &045; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. On June 20, 1948, Marvin was united in marriage to Arlynn E. Broitzman at Zion Lutheran Church in Northwood. The couple began farming in 1948 and enjoyed working the land.

He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle, the American Legion, the VFW, the Eagles, and the Wanderer&8217;s Rest Cemetery Board.

Marvin and Arlynn enjoyed many good times together on and off the farm with their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Arlynn of Glenville; children: Sandi (Bill) Severtson of Lake Lillian, Steven (LeAnn) Anderson of Glenville, Jeanette (Paul) Johnson of Albert Lea, and Linda (Tom) Lorenzen of Glenville; grandchildren: Michele Dahlk, Dawn Teetzel, Robert Severtson, Paul Anderson, Chad Anderson, Carolyn Rasmusson, Joel, Andy, and Ben Johnson, Erin Hornberger, and Fallon and Lindsey Lorenzen; 13 great-grandchildren; two future great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Becksted of Cannon Falls and Pauline (Ersel) Coffett of Bloomington; and sister-in-law, Eunice Anderson of Albert Lea.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carol Jean Anderson; brothers: Clair Anderson, Elburn Anderson and Orville Anderson; and sisters, Harriett Kvalo and Karen Fulkerson.

Marvin was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
