Well, well, well, it&8217;s that time of year when every one seems to be putting away 2006 and getting ready for 2007.
All the newspapers and magazines like to put together little summaries or top 10 lists to sum up the year&8217;s moments.
I, on the other hand, will look at the last year by giving a quiz. Not an ordinary quiz, but a quiz of things that I believe were never said in 2006.
See if you can match the phrases of 2006 with the person that never said it.
1. Paris HiltonA. Einstein&8217;s study of relativity is hot!
2. Dick CheneyB. Duck!
3. Brittany SpearsC. I am a devoted parent and caregiver.
4. U.S. sports fansD. World Cup Soccer is the best spectator sport.
5. Tom CruiseE.
I am very overrated as an actor.
6. Bode MillerF.
Losing builds character, give me a beer!
7. John KerryG. I like that joke! I think I should tell more.
8. Barry BondsH. I took steroids!
9. Rush LimbaughI.
Michael J. Fox is a great role model.
10. O.J. SimpsonJ.
I am an idiot! I deserve to be in jail!
11. Emmitt SmithK. Dancing the rumba beats the Super Bowl any day!
*Here is hint on the quiz: All the answers line up with the person on your left. (Example 1-a, 2-b, and so on.) Good Luck!
Thanks in 2006
I want to thank the St. Theodore&8217;s children that put on the Christmas Eve 5:30 p.m. children&8217;s mass for an entertaining show. The 12 days of Christmas was excellent and it made me realize what Christmas is all about.
I want to Thank Phil and Mary Bartusek for chairing the 2006 United Way drive. United Way touches so many people, it is hard for me to explain, but these two wonderful people stepped up and did a phenomenal job!
On that note, we still have three days until the end of this year&8217;s drive, so please keep up the donations.
I want to thank my beautiful wife, Bonnie, for taking care of the home front while I am working. I love you very much!
I want to thank everyone who is involved with charities &8212; to give to the needy and to provide for the underprivileged is why we are on this Earth.
I want to thank the whole Relay for Life committee for all they do to knock out cancer!
It takes the whole year of people behind the scenes to make this drive so special!
I want to thank Kelly Schultz and Carol Wolters for guiding the Albert Lea sesquicentennial with such class and elegance. These two ladies are a force together.
I want to thank my dedicated staff of hard working, fantastic individuals that everyday work hard to bring you the best newspaper around.
I want to thank our readers, who continue to make us better by calling and writing in to tell us their opinions and to let us know what they think &8212; good or bad!
It is this dedication to our product that has driven us to provide you with a better paper through opinion and debate.
To all in 2007.
Good health and a love for what you do!
