Edwin, 63, of Kirkwood, Ill. died on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at his home.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hoover Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, Ill., with the Rev. Keith Killinger of the First Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation followed the service. Friends of Dennis called on Tuesday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, where his family was present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Dennis was born Sept. 27, 1943, in Albert Lea, the son of Nels and Blanche (Olson).
He was raised and educated in Albert Lea. Dennis married Sharon Koehler on April 6, 1963, in Alden and she survives.
He worked in the meat packing industry all of his working life starting with Wilson Foods in Albert Lea.
He continued to work with Farmland Foods until his retirement in 2001 from Farmland Foods due to health concerns. Dennis loved to play golf, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to auctions, and collecting railroad memorabilia. He also enjoyed show ponies. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Masonic A. Lincoln Lodge of Kirkwood.
His family includes his wife Sharon; two daughters Kim (Steve) Darrah of Lincoln, Ill., and Michele Davidson of Monmouth, Ill.; and one son Todd Edwin of Kirkwood, Ill. He also has five grandchildren Rachel Darrah, Cody Edwin, Jordan Edwin, Blake Edwin and Dylan Fuller; and one brother Robert (Helen) Edwin of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Sterrenburg.
