Drive-off leads to I-35 pursuit

NORTHWOOD, Iowa &8212; A gas drive-off led to a high-speed chase on Interstate 35 on Friday night, and the apprehension of two teenagers on suspicion of stealing an automobile.
The drive-off occurred at the Jo Stop in Northwood. Worth County sheriff&8217;s deputies attempted to stop the car as it sped down Interstate 35. They received help from the Cerro Gordo Sheriff&8217;s Office and the Clear Lake Police Department. Stop sticks were used to slow down the car and law enforcement ultimately stopped it, according to reports.
The teenagers were from Cedar Rapids and were arrested on charges of theft, possession of stolen property, speeding, eluding and no driver&8217;s license. They were transported to North Iowa Detention Center in Waterloo.
The incident is under investigation by the Worth County Sheriff&8217;s Office.
