A lot of people will go see the fireworks at 6 p.m. Dec. 31. A lot of people will see them for free.

But if everyone in Albert Lea gave $1 to the cause &8212; just $1 &8212; there would be about $18,000. If everyone in Freeborn County gave $1, there would be about $32,000.

The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce needs only $5,000 more to make the show a $10,000 show. If it doesn&8217;t get a dime, the chamber still will hold a show, albeit a $5,000 show.

Let&8217;s go for the gusto. Let&8217;s have a spectacular New Year&8217;s Eve fireworks display. Let&8217;s raise that extra $5,000. Stop by the chamber office or the two radio stations and drop off a donation this week. You&8217;ll get the reward on Dec. 31 by seeing to smiles on your children&8217;s faces &8212; in addition to the smile on yours.
