Lake Mills clipped by Newman

MASON CITY, Iowa &8212; Despite having three open weights, Lake Mills was nearly able to pull out a win over Mason City Newman.
The Bulldogs battled back from a 25-10 deficit to take the lead 34-31 when Jordan Banwart downed Ryan Lind 4-0 at 215, but Newman would get the pin and the win at heavyweight taking the dual 37-34.
After dropping the first three matches &045; two by forfeit &045; Lake Mills got a pin from Wade Hebrink to bring the score to 15-6. Hebrink improved to 6-0 on the season with the victory.
Stephan Schwartz earned a 13-3 major decision at 135 and Dan Martinson won 7-6 at 145 to make it 25-13.
Lake Mills would get three falls in the next four matches from Peter Brekken (152), Jake Brekken (171) and Eric Hagen (189) to tie the team score heading into Banwart&8217;s match.
Lake Mills is now 2-2 on the season.
