Lowell &8220;Pete&8221; Alton Swearingen, 77, passed away in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006.
He was born Feb. 9, 1929, in rural Geneva, to Marion and Helen Swearingen. Lowell worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, but mainly he was a farmer for 29 years in Ellendale. He worked two years for Hoss Custom Trailers in Lake Havasu City. He also built custom shipping crates up until a year ago when his health forced him to quit. Lowell and his wife, Margaret have lived in Lake Havasu City part time for 22 years and spent summers in Ellendale. They have been married 58 years. He was very fond of fishing and woodworking crafts.
He was a memeber of the Eagles Club in Lake Havasu City. He loved his pets. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed time with his friends and grandchildren.
Lowell is survived by his loving wife Margaret &8220;Mugsy&8221;; sons, Kent and David of Lake Havasu City, Gary (Denise) of Maple Lake; daughter, Kathy (Alan) Knudson of Ellendale; grandchildren, Tanya Swearingen and Jenna (Trevor) Lowder of Lake Havasu City, Kevin (Katie) Knudson of Ellendale, Chad (Jill) Knudson of Ramsey, Greg Swearingen of Eden Prairie, Brooke and Holly Sweringen of Maple Lake, Noah Lowell Swearingen of Lake Havasu City; great-grandchildren, Brenlee Knudson of Ellendale, Taylar Swearingen of Maple Lake, and Lexi Lowder of Lake Havasu City. Lowell is also survived by four brothers; Robert Swearingen of Ellendale, Marlyn (Betty) Swearingen and Merlyn Swearingen of Owatonna, and Lyle (Helen) Swearingen of Blaire.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Helen Swearingen.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, with visitation one hour prior to service at the Ellendale Lutheran Church.
