Marie Stern, 83, Wells

Marie C. (Korn) Stern, age 83, of Wells, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at Parkview Care Center in Wells.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Pastor Gerald Giese will officiate and burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Christina Stern was born June 13, 1923, the daughter of Reinhold and Dorothy (Wright) Korn Sr. in Alden Township, Freeborn County. She attended country school, District No. 131 in Freeborn County. In early years, she was a housekeeper/nanny for Ralph and Dorothy Erlandson in Albert Lea. She was united in marriage to Melvin W. Stern on Sept. 7, 1952 in Wells. Marie became a wonderful wife, homemaker and mother. She had worked several years at Del Monte Canning factory and raised many chickens and sold lots of eggs. She always had a large garden.

Marie is survived by 2 sons: Keith and his wife Carla Stern, Kent and his wife Linda Stern, all of Wells; Granddaughter: Carol Stern and special friend Paul Swenhaugen of Currie, great-granddaughter Briannon Weringa of Currie, and Paul’s children Lisa and Lance from Westbrook; Grandson: Joshua and his wife Sarah Stern of Lake Crystal; 3 sisters: Wilma Dunbar of Kiester, Millie and her husband Max Knudson of Glenville, and Evelyn Peterson of Lake Mills, IA; one brother: Reinhold Jr. and his wife Harriet Korn of Walters; brother-in-law: Willard and his wife Ione Stern of Wells; sisters-in-law: Ethel Korn, Ardean Sader, both of Wells; many nieces and nephews; special children: Arnie and Margo Stenzel of Wells, known as second kids.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988, brother Luvern Korn and brothers-in-law Charles Dunbar and Lloyd Sader, mother and father in-law.
