NRHEG wrestlers finish second at Faribault

FARIBAULT &8212; The eighth-ranked New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva wrestling team finished second at the Faribualt Invite over the weekend with 213 points. Eastview took the team title with 223.5.

The Panthers&8217; No. 6 Brandon Schlaak finished first at 119 pounds going a perfect 3-0 on the day and was named the outstanding wrestler for his effort.

&8220;Brandon Schlaak had a fantastic day coming in as the third seed and winning the tournament,&8221; NRHEG head coach Paul Cyr said. &8220;Brandon is wrestling well right now and was noticed by the coaches as they awarded him the outstanding wrestler of the tournament.&8221;

Top-ranked Krey Cory was also crowned a champion at 152. Second-ranked Taylor Holland also remained perfect on the season going 3-0 and winning a title for the Panthers.

Mitch Brekke, Gaven Schlaak and Colton Schlaak all ran into tough competition with each suffering their first loss of the season.

Tim Bartness made it to the finals at 135 before having to settle for second and Erik Olson was third at 275.
