Albert Lea Jr. Gold Iceman start 2-1-1

The Albert Lea Jr. Gold Iceman hockey team has started the season with two wins, a loss and a tie.
Inver Grove Heights was the opponent on Albert Lea&8217;s home ice taking immediate control in the first
game with a goal at the top of first period, but the Icemen would answer back with two
quick goals leading to a true battle on ice with each team firing shots in net.
The second and third periods would be no different as each team would put the puck in the net, but the game would end with the Icemen on top by the score 6-5.
Scott Possehl led the Icemen with a hat trick for the game.
Other skaters scoring one goal each were Chris Karge, Nate Yentsch and Mark Stokke. Assists went to Dalton Hanson, Yentsch and
Chris Smith.
The Icemen then traveled to Lakeville for a 3-3 tie then back home for 5-3 loss against Hastings on Thursday before ending up the four game run with a 6-5 win over Hudson Wisconsin Saturday night.
Scoring goals in the games were Hanson, Bryce Adams, Possehl, Stokke, Karge and Phil Runden.
Getting assists were Yentsch, Nick Koza, Karge, Runden. Goalie Dustin Hafstad would earn over 35 saves in net throughout all games played.
The Jr. Gold Icemen team players this season are Mark Stokke, Scott Possehl, Danny Sharpsteen, Alex Sheetz, Nick Koza, Phil Runden, Dalton Hanson, Nate Yentsch, Chris Karge, Bryce Adams, Gradon Schultz, Chris Smith, Cody Sheetz, Travis Oyer, Faren Culp, Laura Bledsoe, Jake Hamberg and Dustin Hafstad.
Coaches for the team are Jerome Anderson, Mark Goskeson and Matt Olson.
The Icemen will host the Jr. Gold Tournament Jan. 5 to 7 at Albert Lea City Arena.
