Austin gets away from the Tigers late

AUSTIN &045; Few things have gone right for the Albert Lea boys&8217; basketball team during its current 11-game losing streak and things did not change for the Tigers Friday night in Austin.

Trailing by just two at halftime and well within striking distance with 10:30 to go things began to go against the Tigers. Albert Lea would be unable to recover falling to the Packers 66-45.

Albert Lea was already in the bonus with the Packers committing seven fouls to the Tigers&8217; one midway through the second half, however, from that point Austin would be whistled just one more time in the game.

The Tigers would struggle to adjust as they were whistled for foul after foul down the stretch before losing the game.

Corey Dieser led the Tigers with 15 points and A.J. Kortz added 10 as the backcourt had success in this game. The team went into the locker room trailing by a score of 26-24.

Albert Lea did own a big edge on the boards outrebounding the Packers by 10 in the game. That allowed the Tigers to keep the pressure on Austin for over 26 minutes of game time.

Jared Gavle added seven points and Louie Grossman chipped in with five.

The loss sent Albert Lea&8217;s record to 1-11 on the season while Austin is now 4-7 overall.

The Tigers will look to pick up their first win since their season opener Tuesday when they take on New Prague in Albert Lea.
