Bulldogs claim title at own tourney

LAKE MILLS, Iowa &8212; Four champions and six runners-up propelled the Lake Mills wrestling team to the title at its own tournament over the weekend.

The Bulldogs finished with 132 points beating out St. Ansgar by nine and St. Edmond by 19.

Junior Gallardo was the Bulldogs&8217; first champion at 112, downing Andy Endelman of North Butler in the championship match.

Wade Hebrink continued to dominate at 125 where he took care of Jackson Hertel of St. Ansgar in the finals.

Stephan Schwartz proved to be the class of the field at 135, and Dan Martinson took care of the competition at 140.

Chandra Peterson finished as the runner-up to Andrew Dayton of St. Edmond at 119 and Peter Brekken was second at 152.

The Bulldogs would put a finalist into the championship match at each of the final four weights but came up short each time. Jake Brekken (171), Eric Hagen (189), Jordan Banwart (215) and

T.J. Ashley (285) all finished in second place.

Craig Hanna finished third at 145 for the bulldogs and Bryant Dagstaed to fourth at 160.
