Bulldogs crown one conference champion

LAKE MILLS, Iowa &8212; Tenth-ranked Wade Hebrink continued his stellar sophomore season by winning the 125-pound North Iowa Conference championship Saturday here.
Hebrink pinned Rich Johnson of Belmond-Klemme in the semifinals in a time of 2:55 before taking down Osage&8217;s Josh Scheer 6-4 in overtime for the title.
Hebrink was the Bulldogs&8217; lone champion against the tough field which saw Lake Mills finish seventh out of eight teams with 111 points.
Class 2A power Osage won the conference title with 265.5 points followed by Forest City with 205 points.
No. 8 Stephan Schwartz was Lake Mills&8217; other finalist at 135, but he was pinned at the last second by top-ranked Theran Goodale of Osage.
Eric Hagen lost a tough semifinal match 4-3 to Garner-Hayfield&8217;s Josh Huffman at 189, but he did comeback to claim third with a pin of Forest City&8217;s Adam Duncan in 4:48.
At 112, Junior Gallardo finished fourth and Jake Brekken took fourth at 171. Jordan Barnwart was also fourth at 215 and T.J. Ashley finished his day with a win to take fifth at 285.
Bryant Dagstad was fifth at 160 and both Chandra Peterson (119) and Craig Hanna (145) had sixth place finishes.
The Bulldogs are back in action Friday night when they travel to Spirit Lake.
