Delano Hovey, 71, Turtle Lake, Wis.

Delano &8220;Del&8221; Hovey, age 71 of Turtle Lake, Wis., formerly of Clear Lake, Wis., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Delano Carl Hovey was born June 13, 1935 in Austin,
the son of Clarence and Della (Gilbertson) Hovey. He was baptized on Jan. 12, 1936, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Delano&8217;s family moved in 1947 to Albert Lea, where he attended Albert Lea High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Over the years, Delano worked various jobs, mostly as a construction worker. On May 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to Beverly Peterson in Charles City, Iowa. Together they moved to Clear
Lake, Wis., in 1985 and lived there until they moved to Turtle Lake, Wis.,
in 2003. In his spare time, Delano enjoyed hunting, softball, and motorcycling. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Della Hovey; and sister, Ardis Appel.
Survived by his wife Beverly Hovey of Turtle Lake, Wis.; daughters and sons, Scott (Bev) Hovey of Rochester, Joni (Garry) Dokken of Golden, Colo., Tracy (Larry) Johnson of Clayton, Wis., Bonnie Peterson of Cumberland, Wis., Dan (Janelle) Peterson of Lexington, and Tim (Norma) Peterson of Clear Lake, Wis.; 13 grandchildren, Mayme, Megan, Nicole, Mike, Christopher, Amy, Jamie, Janel, Jessica, Jennifer, Kyle, Tara and Hana; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Scott (Jodi) Nash of Somerset, Wis.; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was at the Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home in Clear Lake, Wis. on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. Clergy was the Rev. Gary Tonn. Interment was at the Northern Wisisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner at 11 a.m. today. The Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home of Clear Lake, Wis., handled the arrangements.
