NRHEG finishes sixth at Rumble in the Red

The eighth-ranked New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva wrestling team finished sixth with 117 points at the first Rumble in the Red tournament held in Moorhead.
Perham won the team title with 209 points.
The Panthers crowned one individual champion as second-ranked Taylor Holland upset top seed Tyson Wood of Eagan in the finals at 189, 3-1. Holland advanced to the championship round
with a 5-0 win over Justin Turner of GMLOK.
The Panthers&8217; other two finalist came up a little short.
At 152, No. 1 Krey Cory rolled to the finals, but was upended by Perham&8217;s Michael Guehna 12-3.
No. 6 Brandon Schlaak made it to the title match at 119 by beating second seed Jeremy Dizon of West Covina 5-4 before losing to Eagan&8217;s Matt Ashton 8-5 in the finals.
No. 3 Mitch Brekke bounced back from a tough 3-2 semifinal loss to take third pinning Jared White of Byron in 4:06.
Tim Bartness finished fourth at 135 for NRHEG and Alex Moen was fifth at 125.
Sixth-ranked United South Central finished third at the Coyote Invite at Montgomery.
The Rebels finished with 180 points trailing only Montgomery-Lonsdale (109) and team champion Maple River (237.5) on the day.
Fifth-ranked Seth Amberg and No. 10 Jake Bonsack were the Rebels&8217; two individual champions.
Amberg dominated Maple River&8217;s Blair Oachs 15-4 in the finals of 130 while Bonsack torched Montgomery-Lonsdale&8217;s Cory Grasser 11-6.
Dustin Dylla finished as the runner-up at 112 after being pinned by Maple River&8217;s Kyle Siebery in the finals.
Heavyweight Cassidy Carlson also finished as the runner-up losing by pin in the finals.
Zach Wigern took third at 103 as did Daniel Sandt at 135 and Dylan Thisius at 140. Preston Staloch was fourth at 119 and Jeremais Gonsalez was fourth at 125. Jake Herman was fourth at 171 and Sam Stevermer was fifth at 160.
