Palmer Tolzman, 88, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Palmer Alfred Tolzman of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Murray Hanson of the Third Presbyterian Church in Rockford, Ill., will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea.

Mr. Tolzman died Friday morning at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. He had been a resident of the Oak Park Place for the past several years. Palmer was 88 years of age.

Palmer was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Wells the son of William and Marie (Beckman) Tolzman. He attended country school in Wells. Palmer was baptized and confirmed at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, MN. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and was on the property and grounds committee.

Palmer was united in marriage to Frances Jepson on Dec. 31, 1942, in Hayward. He farmed for several years with his father in the Mansfield area, and in 1947 formed the Tolzman Construction Co. He was owner and president until 1960. He built over 20 residential homes in Albert Lea plus commercial buildings including Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.

In 1960 Palmer joined the firm Holmsten Inc. as Production Foreman until his retirement in 1980.

Palmer enjoyed woodworking and made over 16 grandfather clocks during his retirement. He also raised roses as a hobby and enjoyed golf (including a hole in one).

Palmer is survived by nieces and nephews.
