WELLS &045; The United South Central boys&8217; basketball team picked up a big win over rival New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale Geneva, 60-51 Tuesday.

The Rebels overcame a two-point halftime deficit by getting the ball inside to Tom Eilertson and Jake Sonnek. Eilertson finished the night with 14 points and nine rebounds and Sonnek added 11 points. Bryan Hauge also came up big scoring 12 of his 13 points in the second half.

USC turned the ball over 15 times in the game, but only four in the second half.

The Rebels used their size advantage to outrebounded the Panthers by 15 in the game

and put it away by hitting 12 of 15 free throws in the second half.

&8220;This was big for our confidence coming off a disappointing performance against J-W-P,&8221; USC head coach Rob Stevermer said.

Brad Kruckeberg was the only Panther in double figures on the night with 22 points.

Century 51, A.L. 45

The Albert Lea boys&8217; basketball team had a two point

lead over Rochester Century but could not break its nine-game losing steak falling 51-45 at home.

Century scored the first six points of the second half and never trailed again.

R.J. Polley had a big game for the Tigers recording 21 points and 14 rebounds. Corey Dieser had just two points but he dished out 12 assists and ripped down 10 boards.

The Tigers travel to Austin Friday to face the Packers.

A-C 83, Martin Luther 34

Despite playing its starters sparingly the Alden-Conger boys&8217; basketball team had little trouble beating Martin Luther, 83-34.

Matt Bremseth led the way for the Knights with 12 points, Anthony Wittmer added 10 and Taylor Tuttle also had 10.

The return to health of Bremseth gives A-C some much needed bulk inside while a healthy Mitchell Kleinschrodt gives the guard position even more depth.

A-C (7-1) will look to remain perfect in the Valley Conference when it hosts Martin County West Friday.
