Wolverines take down Lyle/Pacelli

GLENVILLE &045; The Glenville-Emmons boys&8217; basketball team used strong defense to break a 23-23 tie at halftime and beat Lyle/Pacelli 47-38 in Glenvile.

Jarrad Knutson led the Wolverines with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Aaron Wuerflein added eight and Jake Kirsch had seven points.

G-E outscored Lyle-Pacelli 24-15 in the second half aided by a 17 of 25 performance at the free throw line in the game.

The Wolverine defense was suffocating in the second half holding L/P to just four points over a 12 minute span in the second half.

WEM 58, USC 36

WATERVILLE &045; The United South Central boys&8217; basketball team got off to a slow start and never could catch up to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown falling 58-36.

Chris Yost led the Rebels with 13 points and Jake Sonnek added 11 as the only scorers in double figures.

USC would cut the lead to 11 in the second half but that is as close as it would get.

WEM benefited from a nearly 2 to 1 edge in rebounding on the night.

USC is now 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the Gopher Conference as they prepare to face Blooming Prairie Tuesday.
