Albert Leas Jean, Ehrhard honored in Region I

The Region I Wrestling Alumni Committee has announced its first Mayo Civic Center Hall of Fame class. The plaque will be on display this weekend at the Mayo Civic Center.
The honorees will be recognized at the Annual SE Minnesota Wrestling Recognition Night, Monday, March 5 at The Eagles Club, with a tentative time of 6:30 pm.
The category of athletes features four three-time state champions:
Albert Lea is represented by a pair of hall of famers.
Tom Jean of Albert Lea was a three-time state champion in the one class system in the early 1970s. He was also a 60-year Dream Team member.
Paul Ehrhard directed his Albert Lea teams to three Minnesota team state titles in the large class system, and also was a key member of the dual meet concept, and also a Lifetime Service Honoree of The National Wrestling Hall Of Fame.
Other honorees are:
Matt Demaray won three state titles at Apple Valley and won two NCAA titles at Wisconsin.
Corey Olson of Hayfield was a three-time state champion and a two-time NCAA runner-up at Nebraska. He was also a Dream Team member.
Kermit Selke was a three-time state champion at Winona High School in the early 1950s. Only a broken leg his sophomore year prevented him from getting four. Kermit was also a long-time official in the southeast Minnesota area.
Scot Davis of Owatonna and Bill Sutter of Goodhue, have directed their teams to two Minnesota state championships for their respective classes and are the two career coaching wins leaders in America, with over 800 and 750 career wins, respectively.
In the category of Contributor/Official, longtime tournament director and official DeWaine Silker of Rochester, and former Carleton College coach Eiler Henrickson of Northfield will be honored.
Henrickson officiated 18 straight Minnesota State Tournaments. Both DeWaine and Eiler have been honored by The National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Okla. with Lifetime Service Awards.
