Bernice Low, 87, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Bernice L. Low, 87, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a .m. Tuesday at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Bernice died on Friday Feb. 9, 2007, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.

Bernice Lucile Low was born on March 1, 1919, in Clear Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Dorothy (Ball) Juhl. She attended rural schools in Iowa and on May 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to Vale L. Low in Mason City, Iowa. The couple farmed in Osage and Northwood, Iowa, Clarks Grove and Emmons. Bernice enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers and spending time with her family and many grandchildren.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and then Central Freeborn Lutheran Church.

Bernice is survived by her daughters Janiece Quam and Sandy and husband, Joe Becker, both of Albert Lea, and Cindy Budach, Owatonna; sisters and brothers-in-law Luella Low, Clear Lake, Iowa, Eleanor Low, Dorothy Low, Pat Low, Allen and wife, Deloris Low, Drexell and wife Bernice Estes and Richard and wife, Marge Low, all of Northwood, Iowa, Dorothy Juhl and Mary Juhl, Waterloo, Iowa; grandchildren Jeff Quam and Charlotte Haukoos, Scott and wife Carol Quam, Steve and wife Karen Quam, Lori and husband Jeff Miller, Jon Quam, Craig and wife Kim Quam, Lisa and husband Jerry Olson, Angie and husband Keith Flatness, Kirk Siemer, Becky and husband Brian Haberman, Mike and wife LeeAnne Budach and Shari and husband Corey Mensink; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vale; sons-in-law; C. Paul Quam and David Budach; great-grandchild Amy Quam; and numerous brothers and sisters.
