Dr. Donald Haase, 83, Blue Springs, MO.

Dr. Donald D. Haase passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at St. Mary&8217;s Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo.

Donald was born on May 28, 1923 in Norfolk, Neb. to Adolf and Tillie Haase. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska and Yale University. He served communities as a family doctor in Stratton, Neb., Babbit and Silver Bay.

Donald was a veteran of World War II and during the Korean War served as a Captain for two years in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Donald served on the Board of Directors of Northwest Bank in Silver Bay for 15 years. He was a member of the local Lions Club and served on the Lake County Housing and Redevelopment Authority from 1984 to 1994.

&8220;Doc&8221; enjoyed his family, his family practice and also enjoyed his hobbies – fishing, hunting, and rocks. He owned the Beaver Bay Agate Shop for a period of time, and continued tumbling, faceting and making jewelry for several years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Morleen, and son, William David.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Lee Ann Lundgren (Roger) of White Bear Lake, Mary Podlogar (David) of Albert Lea, and Kathy Larson (Robert) of Blue Springs, Mo.; son, James (Marlynn) of Silver Bay; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grand children; brother, Lennard (Adeline) of Norfolk, Neb.; two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation is one hour before the 1 p.m. service on Friday, Feb. 16, at the United Protestant Church, Silver Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to the Minnesota Veterans Home, Silver Bay. Burial will be at the Silver Bay Cemetery. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
