Ethelyn Erickson, 93, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Ethelyn M. Erickson, age 92, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Ethelyn died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Buffalo.
Ethelyn May Erickson was born May 27, 1914, to Jens P. and Mathilda (Nelsen) Wyrum. Her parents were born in Denmark and immigrated to the United States. Ethelyn&8217;s mother was a homemaker and helped with the farm work. Her father was a farmer who came here to work and met his wife in the States. One of Ethelyn&8217;s favorite memories growing up was all the friends she had at school. She loved playing sports and was captain of the basketball team. Ethelyn graduated from Alden High School in 1933. She married Elmer L. Erickson on Oct. 14, 1938. Ethelyn was self-taught and worked as a bookkeeper at both the Conger and Alden grain elevators.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Buffalo; her daughter, Marie (Anthony) Sunlitis of Buffalo; her son, Edward (Barbara) Erickson of Houston, Texas; granddaughters: Nancy Kalke of Minneapolis, Charlene (Thomas) McDonnell of Buffalo, and Karen (Russell) Point, also of Buffalo; great-grandchildren: Karin and Philip Rossin, Jack and Andrew McDonnell, and Kandace, Joseph, and Erickson Point; sister, Lydia Erickson of Lake Mills, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Gladys Weyrum of Alden and Lillian Wyrum of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Ethelyn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Oscar N, Weirum, Marshall E. Wyrum, Arndt E. Weyrum, Jens P. Wyrum, Jr., and Russell L. Wyrum; and sisters, Olga C. Bjorklund and Marjorie A. Beiber.
Ethelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. We will all miss her very much.
