Hansen scores 1,000th point in Panther win

NEW RICHLAND &8212; New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva&8217;s Brittany Hansen needed 13 points to reach 1,000 in her career coming into Tuesday night&8217;s game against Montgomery-Lonsdale. The senior did better than that scoring 21 points in NRHEG&8217;s 53-37 win.
Hansen had three 3-pointers in the game and a team-high six steals as she became the third Panther player in the past two years to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career. She joins Alison Anderson and Traci Nelson.
Jasmine Brouwers added 16 points and Alyssa Hagen had eight.
The Panthers went 19 of 33 from the free throw line in the game and had 14 steals while M-L turned the ball over 25 times.
NRHEG is now 15-1 in the Gopher Conference and 18-7 overall.
GHEC 54, USC 38
GRANADA &8212; Granada-Huntley-East Chain jumped out to a 32-21 halftime lead over United South Central and cruised to a 54-38 win over the Rebels Tuesday.
Eight field goals accounted for all of the offense the Rebels got in the second half as they did not attempt a free throw after halftime.
Tom Eilertson led the Rebels with 12 points.
USC is now 10-14 on the season and hosts Randolph Friday.
