Joseph Richard Shea, 91, died peacefully in the presence of his family on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph&8217;s Catholic Church, 512 South Elm, Owatonna. Friends and family are also invited to a wake from 2 to 6 p.m. today at St. Joseph Church.

Joe owned and operated Shea Distributing Co. with warehouse facilities in Owatonna and Rochester distributing Pabst and Heilman beers and other products in 15 counties of southeastern Minnesota. In 1967 he was elected president of the Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris; sister, Catherine (Katie) Shea Cashman, Owatonna; brother William (Jeanne) Shea, Albert Lea; sister-in-law; Jean Shea of Mesa, Ariz., one daughter, Sara Shea-Matchey, Owatonna; five sons, Tim (Cathy), Rochester; Tom (Stephanie), Owatonna; Rick (Lisa), Carmel, Calif.; Kevin (Jane), Burnsville; and Brian, New Hope; eight granddaughters: Katie, Molly, Kerry, Melissa, Maggie, Kelsey, Meghan and Corrigan; six grandsons: Matthew (Shelley), Christopher, Joseph, Nicholas, R.J. or Rick, and Nolan; two great-granddaughters: Norah and Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Alta Johnson Anderson; brothers John Shea, Francis (Hans) Shea and Paul Shea; brother-in-law, Jack Cashman, sister-in-laws, Kathleen, Margaret and son-in-law, Michael Matchey.
