Knights take fifth at conference tourney

LE CENTER &8212; The Alden-Conger boys&8217; basketball team concluded the Valley Conference Tournament with a 61-40 beating of Truman to finish in fifth place.

The Knights came into the tournament struggling, dropping three consecutive games, but finished strong winning their final two.

Sam Hallman was one of four Alden-Conger players to reach double figures in the game recording a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Paul Little was the high scorer for the Knights with 13 points while both Alex Bute and Ryan Wach had 10 points apiece. Bute added eight rebounds and five assists.

A-C helped itself at the free throw line where it went 11 of 16 in the game to mark its second straight strong performance at the charity stripe.

The Knights&8217; defense frustrated Truman the entire game giving up many of the points late.

&8220;We played well both offensively and defensively,&8221; A-C head coach Bill Hintz said. &8220;We rebounded well and this was one of our better games shooting free throws.&8221;

The Knights finish up the regular season Tuesday when they host Glenville-Emmons before beginning section play.
