Lloyd Arthur Parker, age 87, of Alden, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner funeral home in Wells and one-hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
The Rev. Gerald Giese will officiate. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. Military honors will be presented by the Wells Color Guard and the Freeborn American Legion.
Lloyd Parker was born October 18, 1919, in Cuthbert, S.D., the son of Benjamin and Grace (Piper) Parker. Lloyd spent his childhood and created many memories in the small town of Cuthbert. He graduated from High School in Woonsocket, S.D., in 1937.
He joined the U.S. Army and served his country in Germany during World War II until 1945. Lloyd married Bernadine Tatge on November 8, 1945 in Wells. He was a farmer all of his life and was an avid gardener. He loved hunting and fishing and shared this passion by teaching hundreds of 12-year-olds gun safety for over 40 years. He was a member of the Carlston Township Board, Gilmore-Stensrud American Legion and the Wells VFW.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter Nona and her husband Duane Sippel of Albert Lea; two granddaughters: Lora Millang of Alden and Lisa (Millang) Renaux and her husband Luc of Alden; one great-grandson: Dylan Renaux of Alden; one sister: Katherine and her husband Harvey Matson of Bricelyn;
one sister-in-law: Hattie Parker; one brother-in-law: Elmer Tatge and his wife Caroline and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernadine, two brothers: George Parker and Joseph Parker; 1 sister: Dorothy Watt; and his son David, died in Vietnam.
