Shirley Kinny, 81, Austin

Shirley Mae Kinny, age 81, of Austin, a resident of St. Mark’s Lutheran Home, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 at the Austin Medical Center.
Shirley was born March 8, 1925 in Milford, Dickinson County, Iowa to John M. and Bertha (Moritz) Kinny.
The family moved to the Austin area in 1928.
Shirley attended school in Austin and graduated in 1944. She attended post graduate school for one year.
In 1947, Shirley started working with her friend, Elizabeth Taylor at Queen of Angels Church as a housekeeper.
She worked there for 23 years.
In 1972 she started working at Austin Vocational School as a matron.
Shirley worked there until her retirement in 1990.
She also did house cleaning for numerous people around Austin.
Shirley enjoyed playing cards, bingo, going out to eat and visiting friends and relatives.
She also enjoyed playing games with her many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include sisters:
Mary (Tom) Mlenar, St. Paul, Bernitta Gilpin, St. Paul, Bonnie (John) Funk, St. Joseph, Mo.; brothers:
Delbert (Karen) Kinny, Austin, David (Mary) Kinney, Faribault, Harold (Judy) Kinney, Albert Lea; sister-in-law: Alphia Kinney, Austin; brothers-in-law: Gene Hamburg, Glenville, Ernie Hoag, Lonsdale; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers:
Donald, Kenneth, John and Robert; sisters: Loretta Shuck Nelson, Lavonne Turnell Hunt, Betty Hamburg and JoAnn Hoag.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating.
There will be a 4 pm CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The casket bearers will be Greg Kinny, Doug Kinny, Mike Kinney, Steve Kinney, Kevin Hamburg and Bob Hamburg.
