Alan Knut &8220;Jake&8221; Jacobson, age 66, of Austin died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Fieldcrest Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1940, in Austin, the only child of Knut and Evelyn (Jahns) Jacobson.
Jake attended Austin Public Schools and spent several years in the U.S. Navy. In 1960 he was married to Ruth Ann Kellogg, they had two sons. Jake married Mary Hessenius on Sept. 9, 1974, in Austin.
Jake loved to hunt, fish and spend time at his cabin in Hackensack. He spent a short time as a deputy sheriff for Mower County before spending 17 years with the Austin Fire Department. Jake had many businesses over the years including North Star Liquor, Jake and
Fran&8217;s Loading Dock, Mapleview Lounge and Bottleshop, Jake&8217;s Corral and Jake&8217;s Bucksville. for the past 15 years Jake drove semi for several local trucking firms.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jacobson and his parents.
He is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Leah and Levi Erickson of Austin and Elizabeth Jacobson of Rochester; sons and daughter-in-law: Timothy Jacobson of Brainerd and Michael and Lynette Jacobson of Rochester; grandchildren: Zachary Wiste, Tanner, Travis, Brandon, Jennifer and Ashley Jacobson; and lifelong friend, Kenneth Knutson of Austin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.
Casket bearers will be Brandon Jacobson, Tanner Jacobson, Ryan Palumbo, Tony Palumbo, Eric Palumbo and Ben Hessenius.
