Howard &8220;Howie&8221; Everett Ringham, 85, of Northwood, Iowa, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St., Northwood, with the Rev. Barbara Wills officiating. Interment will be in the North Shell Rock Cemetery, rural Northwood with military graveside honors conducted by members of &8220;Our Buddies&8221; VFW Memorial Post #6779 of Northwood, and by members of the Glenville American Legion Post.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
According to his wishes, his body was cremated.
Connor Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
Howard Everett Ringham was born on June 27, 1921, in Albert Lea, the son of Christopher and Hattie (Larson) Ringham. He attended and received his education in the Albert Lea School system, graduating from Albert Lea High School. After completing his schooling he worked for a bowling alley in Albert Lea and also for the Albert Lea Tribune. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on Jan. 26, 1943, in Albert Lea and served on several battle ships in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 26, 1946. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Wilson Meat Packing Plant in Albert Lea before purchasing the Circus Tap in Northwood, Iowa. Howie operated the Circus Tap for several years until his retirement.
Howie was inducted into the Minnesota Hall of Fame for horseshoes and bowling, and also enjoyed watching sports on television, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, &8220;Our Buddies VFW Memorial Post #6679 in Northwood, American Legion Post in Glenville and the Elks Lodge in Albert Lea.
Survivors include his special friend, Loretta Lande of Northwood; his sister, Kathryn Barnick of Albert Lea; two brother-in-laws, Russell Paczkowski of Albert Lea, and Connie Woullard of Texas; other special friends, Butch (Pam) Lande, Angie Steckler, Asriele (Justin) Wheeler and Thor and Tayah Lande, all of Northwood, IMary (Mike) Arndt of Kiester and Brayden Arndt of Kiester; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sanford and Christopher Ringham; an infant brother who died at birth; and two sisters, Bernice and Esther.
