Marvel Nelson, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Marvel F. Nelson, 91, of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Norman Johnson, Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister and Art Heibert will officiate.
Interment will be in Pilgrim&8217;s Rest Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Marvel died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home.
Marvel Faith Nelson was born Aug. 17, 1915, to Nelson E. and Mary E. (Dunn) Hutchins in New England, N.D. She attended school in Makoti, N.D., through her sophomore year in 1931 when the family moved to Myrtle.
Marvel went to school in Rochester her junior year and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1934. On April 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Bernard C. Callahan at St. James Church in Twin Lakes. He preceded her in death in 1958. Marvel married Clifford Nelson on October 11, 1965.
He preceded her in death 1982. Marvel had been employed at St. Mary&8217;s School, Cornick Rest Home, and St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer at St. John&8217;s for over 20 years, where she was know as &8220;The Mail Lady.&8221;
Survivors include her daughters, Bev and husband, Ed Bleuer of Albert Lea and Bunny and husband, Bill Johnson of Pipestone; son, Donald and wife Donna Callahan of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; grandchildren: Cameron Bleuer, Terri Hart, Kimberly Goette, Brad and Craig Johnson, and Scott and Charles Callahan; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wilma Hutchins of Albert Lea; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends at St. John&8217;s and Senior Court.
Marvel was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bernard Callahan and Clifford Nelson; and one sister and three brothers.
Marvel is lovingly remembered by her family, who will miss her very much.
