Alice Hunt, 89, Bricelyn

Alice Theodora Hunt, 89, of Bricelyn, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Edward Nieman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Interment will be in Clayton Cemetery in Faribault County. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn is in charge of arrangements.

Alice T. Hunt was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Lake Mills, Iowa, the daughter of George and Theoline (Anderson) Bendickson. On Dec. 6, 1952, she married Gordon Hunt in Albert Lea. On June 12, 1957, they adopted Teresa, who was born on Alice&8217;s birthday in 1956. Alice worked diligently with Gordon raising turkeys and dressing them in the basement of the old farmhouse. Later, Alice sold World Book Encyclopedias where she won several awards for her sales.

Alice was a lifelong member of Bricelyn Lutheran Church where she was involved in WELCA and other activities. Alice loved gardening, played bridge in several clubs and relaxed by reading books and working crossword puzzles.

Alice was a hostess, entertaining family and friends with lavish meals while making it look effortless. She always made it a point to remember everyone’s name and was sincerely interested in their well-being. Alice&8217;s legacy is that she truly cared for everybody she encountered. There is nothing but good that can be said about Alice Hunt.

She is survived by her daughter: Teresa Hunt of Arvada, Colo.; one granddaughter: Lauren Katsel and Lauren&8217;s father Gary Katsel, both of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters: Myrtle Huso and Vivian Knutson, both of Albert Lea; one brother-in-law: William Santiago of Honolulu, Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon; eight siblings: Mabel, Hank, Gilma, Nettie, Carl, Lillie, James and Earl; and sister-in-law Elaine Santiago.
