Bruce Roberts, 83, Wells

Bruce Eugene Roberts Sr., 83, of Wells, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with the Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service with the Rosary at 9 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors by the Wells Color Guard.

Bruce E. Roberts was born March 10, 1924, in Wells, the son of Daniel C. and Annie (Berger) Roberts. On April 22, 1947, he married Lorraine Erb at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Bruce was a lifelong resident of Wells. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Philippines and New Guinea. Bruce was employed by Weyerhauser in Albert Lea. He also worked for the City of Wells and had been a courier for the Wells Hospital. Bruce was known for his tasty mocha cakes, pies and enjoyed crafts, woodworking and carpentry. He was a big prankster and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

He loved his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a member of the St. Casimir Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Roberts; three children: Linda Raimann, Bruce Roberts Jr., and Diane (Mike) Morgan all of Wells; 12 grandchildren: Mark (Tammy) Garver, Jeremy (Krista) Garver, Chrissy (Todd) VerNess, Lesley (Jason) Riess, Misty (Josue) Chavez, Josh Raimann, Ann Raimann, Jennifer Roberts, Michelle (Jason) Lechner, Levi Rutzen, Caleb Johnson and Zach Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; three

brothers, Roger (Arlene) Roberts of Mason City, Iowa; Corvin

(Georgianna) Roberts, Richard (Lois) Roberts and sister Betty Olson, all of Wells;

sister-in-law Esther Roberts of Eagan; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter Barbara Ann Garver in 1982; granddaughter Mackenzie Rose Schroeder in 1976 and brothers Marvin Roberts and Giles Roberts.
