Cougar spotted in Myrtle

A cougar was spotted outside of a First Avenue house in Myrtle Friday afternoon, Freeborn County Sheriff&8217;s Office reports stated.

According to reports, a homeowner at 105 First Avenue in Myrtle called in the animal at 2:25 p.m. Friday after he noticed it in the back of his pickup and alongside the

house digging through some garbage, said Scott Golbuff with the Sheriff&8217;s Office.

The cougar took off, Golbuff said, and deputies later located tracks from the animal to confirm its presence. The tracks led out of town headed northwest.

The Department of Natural Resources was contacted, and agents indicated that the animal is protected and should be left alone.
