MANKATO &8212; Mankato Loyola used four hits in the third inning to score three runs en route to a 6-0 victory over New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Tuesday.
The Panthers continued to struggle with the bats collecting just three hits in the game led by Jenna Brekke&8217;s 2-for-3 night.
Molly Hacker struck out six and did not walk a batter as she took the loss.
&8220;We played better defensivley and put the bat on the ball better,&8221; NRHEG head coach Grant Berg said. &8220;We can&8217;t commit errors to give teams more bases and more at bats.&8221;
The Panthers are now 0-4 on the season as they travel to Janeville tonight.
Houston 4, G-E 2
HOUSTON &8212; The Glenville-Emmons softball team fell to Houston 4-2 Tuesday.
The Wolverines had the game tied at two heading into the sixth, but a two-run home run gave the Hurricanes all the cushion they would need.
Lindsey Lorenzen pitched a strong game striking out seven and not issuing a walk in the losing effort.
G-E took the lead in the first inning when Lorenzen singled to get on and advanced on an Ashley Lau single. Kylie Indrelie would lay down a bunt to drive in Lorenzen.
Houston took a 2-1 lead in the fourth, but G-E answered with the tying run in the fifth when Molly Kral reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
Lau finished the game going 2-for-3 at the plate as did Indrelie.
The Wolverines are back on the road at Mabel-Canton tonight.
