Robert Hansen, 80, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Robert &8220;Bob&8221; E. Hansen of 204 Giles Place, Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the church.

Bob died on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center Health Care Wing. He was 80 years old.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in Albert Lea, the son of Adolph and Minnie (Hallum) Hansen. Bob&8217;s father died when he was 6; his mother remarried Morris Madson, who raised him.

He attended Albert Lea Schools and when he was 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He served our country during World War II as a radio operator on a cargo plane in the South Pacific.

When Bob returned from the service he returned to Albert Lea and began training in the sheet metal industry.

He was united in marriage to Connie Johnsrud on May 11, 1947, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

As a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Bob worked at several heating and air conditioning businesses in the area. In 1956 Bob and Connie moved to California where he worked for several years. He raised his family during this time, and was very active in the community, especially in Little League Baseball.

In 1974, they returned to Albert Lea. Bob gave his life to the Lord in 1961 at a Billy Graham Crusade in the Los Angeles Coliseum. He had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Bob enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, woodworking, and watching and listening to baseball and football. In his younger days, Bob was a great dancer.

His family will remember him as being a true &8220;Mr. Fixit.&8221;

Bob is survived by his wife Connie of Albert Lea; four children, Mike Hansen and his wife Terry of Fallbrook, Calif., Kris and her husband George Kessel of Albert Lea, Holly Stoa and her husband Chuck of Blue Earth, and Heidi Hamann and her husband Robert of Temecula, Calif.; grandchildren, Wendy and her husband Justin Horey and their daughter Jordan of Foothills Ranch, Calif., Bobby Hansen and his wife Lori and lovingly awaited son London E. of Oceanside, Calif., Jon Hansen of Nashville, Tenn., Elizabeth Hansen of Fallbrook, Calif., and her fianc/ Michael Froberg, Becky and her husband Jeremie Barclay and their daughters Emma and Hannah of Albert Lea, Debby Kessel of Pasadena, Calif., Rachel Kessel of Seattle, Wash., Noah and Isaiah Kessel of Albert Lea, Danny Stoa of Coralville, Iowa and his fianc/e Kelli Isder, Kjersten Lee of Pasadena, Calif.; sister Kathleen Mucha of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law Shirley Hansen of Albert Lea and Eva Johnsrud of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, David Johnsrud and his wife Barbara of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; stepfather Morris Madson; a child in infancy; grandson David Lee in infancy; sisters, Adeline Wooldridge and Doris Dronen; brother John Hansen; and brother-in-law Don Johnsrud.

Bob was a hardworking, loyal, and honest man, who will be greatly missed.
