AUSITN &8212; The Albert Lea softball team didn&8217;t get the victories over Austin, but head coach Chad Feikema is already seeing the improvment.

The Packers down the Tigers 6-0 and 8-5 Tuesday, but the Tigers got another solid effort from pitcher Nichelle Klatt, committed just two errors in the doubleheader and pounded out 18 hits.

Klatt pitched all 12 innings striking out four and walking eight.

Austin managed just single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings in game one and a three-run fourth.

Tayron Anderson went 2-for-3 for the Tigers in the opener.

In game two, The Tigers exploded for 13 hits inclding a two-run home run by Marisa Cottrell in the seventh. Kat Ladwig, Lauren Klick, Jenna Christensen, Jacyln Rehmke all had two hits and Sarah Jensen had three.
