BLUE EARTH &8212; The USC/AC girls&8217; and boys&8217; track teams traveled to Blue Earth Invitational Saturday.
The weather did not cooperate as the meet was discontinued due to weather. After sitting out one rain and lightening delay an effort was made to get the meet started again, but after five minutes, the weather prevailed.
The girls were able to complete seven events, and the boys were able to complete just six.
Both the girls and boys were doing well with the girls sitting in fourth place and the boys in second, just 10 points behind a very strong team from Fairmont.
&8220;I think the boys were actually in pretty good position,” commented USC/AC head coach Kent Viesselman. &8220;We were coming into the strength of our lineup, but that’s just speculation.&8221;
For the girls, the best performances turned in up to this point were the second place finish of Carolyn Schmitz in the pole vault with a personal best of eight feet and the
third place finishes of the shuttle hurdle and sprint medley teams.
On the boys&8217; side, Jesse Courrier won both the shot put and discus. Other highlights included the 3-4 finish of
Amos Bessler and Jake Elmer in the triple jump, and the second place finish of the 4×800 team.
