FREEBORN &8212; The wind blew and there was a little rain mixed in, but the Alden-Conger boys&8217; golf team still found a way to down St. Clair 180-187 Friday.
Sam Hallman led the way for the Knights firing an impressive 39 in the conditions to take medalist honors. Hallman played a strong round breaking 40 on a day coaches and players were hoping for mid-40 scores.
&8220;I am very happy to see Sam play so well,&8221; A-C head coach Tyler Hintz said. &8220;The wind was tough, but the little rain we got really helped the course. The greens were better and it was night and day different from just a day ago.&8221;
Joey Larson and Brandon McTague both had rounds of 46 and Josh Larson had a 49.
The Knights are back in action Monday when they travel to Owatonna to take part in an invitational.
