Boni Kay (Booen) Roberts, 61, of Hayward, Wis., formerly of Rosemount, has died. Her strong faith helped her to bravely fight cancer but she passed on May 20, 2007.
Boni was an artist, wife, mother, daughter and friend. She was so loved by everyone who knew her. Her sense of humor, compassion and curiosity of life will be dearly missed.
Boni went to Richfield High School, was a member of the Tapaires dance line, a classic car enthusiast, and enjoyed frequent Friday night drives to &8220;Porky&8217;s.&8221; She met and married Bill, her high school sweetheart, her best friend and the love of her life. Boni attended MCAD for graphic design and went on to be active in the aviation community for many years, publishing and editing &8220;MN Flyer&8221; magazine. Her work always included journalism and design. Boni also had many other passions; photography, calligraphy, writing, painting, music, dancing, motorcycles, camping, auctions, antiquing and having a good laugh any chance she could get. Boni and Bill recently built a cabin on Stabin Lake in Wisconsin. She loved the peace, tranquility and beauty of the woods. It was good for her soul. I could go on for days about my mother, the best woman I&8217;ve ever known. She took the road less traveled and taught me to do the same.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mavis Booen.
Boni is survived by Bill Roberts (her husband of 39 years); daughter, D&8217;Ette; favorite son-in-law, Jeff Mullinix; father, Sherm Booen; Aunt Mary Leone Sonkson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Mary Hokenson and husband Gene; niece and nephew, Heather and Troy Hokenson; the Famous Pine Island Gang; and many, many special friends and family.
She is gone too soon and will be deeply missed. We will gather to honor Boni today at 6 p.m. for visitation and 7 p.m. for a memorial service at the United Methodist Church of Peace, 6345 Xerxes Ave. S., Richfield, MN, 55423, (612) 866-0069. Memorials preferred to Sharing and Caring Hands. Cards may be sent to Sherm Booen, 6711 S. Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, MN, 55423.
