Errors cost USC victory

ST. JAMES &8212; The United South Central baseball team let one get away Monday in St. James.

The Rebels got a strong one-hit pitching performance from Eric Grunzke, but five errors allowed St. James to get the 3-2 win.

USC committed three errors in the fourth inning and one in the fifth allowing all three runs to score.

&8220;We can&8217;t give up five errors and expect to win,&8221; USC head coach Pat Frank said. &8220;We need to play close games, but we have to find a way to win them.&8221;

USC&8217;s only offence came off a two-run home run from Grunzke in the sixth inning.

USC had six hits in the game and drew six walks, but left the bases loaded in the fourth and the sixth innings. The Rebels had the bases loaded with just one out in the sixth, but St. James was able to turn a double play to end the threat.

The Rebels are back in action today at Fairmont.
