The Albert Lea Knights Youth baseball team got its inaugural season started with a fourth place finish at the St. Anthony Tournament May 5 and 6.
The Knights began practice last fall and started their 2007 season with April practice.
&8220;We are focused on the youth and trying to help them build their baseball skills,&8221; said coach Kelly Bordewick. &8220;We were just trying to fill a void that we felt was there.
&8220;Our first tournament was a very positive experience and one we can learn from.&8221;
The traveling team is made up of kids 10 and under and will play between 25 and 30 games before its season concludes in July.
The team plays most of its games in the surrounding area including contests with teams in Rochester, Waseca, Mankato, New Ulm and the Twin Cities.
Tryouts for next year&8217;s team will be July 28. For more information contact Bordewick at 507-377-2676.
