NRHEG, USC combine to send five to sections

MONTGOMERY &8212; The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls&8217; golf team advanced three individuals to the section meet in Montgomery Monday.
The Panthers finished fourth as a team with a 421 just two strokes behind United South Central&8217;s 419. Blue Earth Area won the 2A sub-section with a 399.
Hannah Demmer and Mariah Tappe both advanced to the section meet in Faribault May 29 with scores of 103 and 104, respectively.
Katie Walstrom and Shelby Whitcomb finished in a three-way tie for the final two section spots. Both golfers shot 107, but Walstrom was knocked out of the playoff while Whitcomb advanced.
USC&8217;s Jessica Stensrud was the medalist with a 92. Kirsten Amberg and Steph Herman also advanced to section competition for the Rebels with rounds of 100 and 107, respectively.
