Ruben G. Brandt, 77, of Albert Lea, died Thursday, May 23, 2007, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the St. John’s Lutheran Chapel. The Rev. Mark Boorsma officiated.
Friends could call one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Ruben was born Dec. 12, 1929, in rural Minnesota Lake, the son of Adolph and Ida (Raimann) Brandt. He attended public school in Faribault County. Ruben was united in marriage to Delores Kueker in 1959 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minnesota Lake. They were later divorced.
Ruben lived his early life in Faribault County on the farm and after his marriage moved to Freeborn County where he worked for Wilson & Co. for many years.
Ruben was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, the American Legion Club, VFW and the Union Center. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his children.
Ruben is survived by his former wife Delores of Albert Lea; children: Judy and her husband Bob Neste of Grand Forks, N.D., Gary and his wife Nancy Brandt of Albert Lea, and Stacy and his wife Susan Brandt of Gloucester, Va. There are eight grandchildren, Jessica Wildeman, Carissa Anderson, Matthew (Ashly) Brandt, Chasity Kolb, Chad Kolb, Aaron Brandt, Brianna Brandt and Zachary Brandt. There are two great-grandchildren, Zane Anderson and Cambrya Brandt. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. There is one sister-in-law surviving, Loretta Brandt of Wells.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents and brother Erich Brandt.
