Elmer Erickson, age 91, Buffalo

Funeral services for Elmer Ludvig Erickson, age 91, of Buffalo, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Dick Spande will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church.
Elmer died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo.
Elmer Ludvig Erickson was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Howard, S.D., to Eddie Ucine and Louise (Ilstad) Erickson. His father was born in Illinois and his mother in Norway, and Elmer was one of nine children. He married Ethelyn May Wyrum Oct. 14, 1938. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last fall. Elmer loved his family and always enjoyed taking care of his farm animals.
He enjoyed working with wood, making toys, home decorations and gadgets. Elmer and Ethelyn resided in Alden before moving to Albert Lea in 1971. In July 2006, they moved to assisted living in Buffalo to be near family.
Survivors include daughter, Marie (Anthony) Sunlitis; son, Edward (Barbara) Erickson; granddaughters: Nancy Kalke, Charlene (Thomas) McDonnell and Karen (Russell) Point; great-grandchildren: Karin and Philip Rossin, Jack and Andrew McDonnell, and Kandace, Joseph, and Erickson Point; sisters: Anna (Arthur) Anderson, Gladys (Ray) Rothstein, Juliet Zalk and Lucille (Gustav) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethelyn in February 2006; brothers: Melvin J. Erickson and Arthur E. Erickson; and sisters: Gladys and Jeanette, who died at young ages.
Elmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. We will all miss him very much.
