Linus Seifert, 80, Grand Rapids

Linus &8220;George&8221; Seifert, 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away on June 15, 2007, in Grand Itasca Hospital from complications arising from pneumonia and a stroke.

Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph&8217;s Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. The Rev. Keith Bertram will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at St. Raphael&8217;s Catholic Cemetery in Springfield.

George was born on May 10, 1927 in Redwood Falls to Gertrude and Emil Seifert. George graduated from Springfield

High School and joined the US Navy toward the end of World War II. He married Mary Katherine Sawyer on June 25, 1953, in Mankato. George was a teacher in the Albert Lea school district from 1953 until his retirement in 1984, teaching industrial arts during his career.

After their retirement, George and Mary moved from Albert Lea to Belle Vista, Ark., for three years before moving to Grand Rapids where George enjoyed hunting, fishing and his cabin. Mary currently resides at Grand Village in Grand Rapids.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude; and his brother, Floyd.

George is survived by wife Mary, daughter Kathryn Anne of Ames, Iowa, son Kenneth George, his wife Elizabeth (Betty), and three grandsons, Andrew George, Adam Richard and Samuel Robert of Andover.

George lived a wonderful life and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He died peacefully. Please remember him in your prayers and may he rest in peace.
