Paul L. Townley Sr., 77, Wells

Paul L. Townley Sr., age 77, of Wells, and formerly of Faribault, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with the Rev. Larry Bessler officiating.

Interment will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with military honors.

Visitation is at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault today from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m.

Paul Laverne Townley Sr., the son of Raymond and Lucy (Spriggs) Townley, was born on June 26, 1929, in Walcott Township, Rice County.

He attended country school in Walcott Township.

Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Lee on June 17, 1956, at the Congregational Church in Medford.

He started his working career as a trucker with Yule Trucking, and then was a welder with OMC Welding and OTC.

He had worked four years at the Faribault Country Club before farming for a number of years in Steele County until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He his survived by his wife, Geraldine of Wells; six children, Gary (and Alice) Townley of Northfield,Lucy (and Jim) Braulik of Mahtowa, John (and Valerie) Townley of West Concord, Brian Townley of Wells, Neda (and Mike) Johnson of Albert Lea and Paul Townley Jr. of Wells; seven grandchildren; two brothers, William (and Juanita) Townley of Stiger, Okla., and George Townley of West Concord; and other relatives and friends. He was a friend of Bill W. for 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy; brother, John Townley; and a sister-in-law, Mary Townley.
