Trio to participate in Worlds Largest Rodeo

Area high school students participated in the Minnesota High School Rodeo Finals June 15-17 in Hugo.

Anna Mattson of Glenville-Emmons High School participated in barrels, pole bending, cutting, team roping and breakaway roping. Mattson placed third in girls&8217; cutting winning a belt buckle.

G-E&8217;s Jordyn Van Ryswyk took part in barrels, pole bending, team roping and breakaway roping.

Natalie Morem of Austin High School participated in barrels, pole bending, team roping and breakaway roping. Morem placed 11th in pole bending, with 70 participants in that event.

Mitchell Morem participated in steer wrestling, calf roping and team roping.

United South Central&8217;s Cassidy Carlson took part in

steer wrestling, calf roping and team roping while Bridget Haugh participated in barrels, pole bending and goat tying.

Dillon Corrington participated in steer wrestling, team roping, calf roping and cutting.

State champion titles were earned by Corrington and Carlson in team roping. Corrington also won boys&8217; cutting.

They received a saddle for each event won along with a belt buckle.

Mattson, Corrington and Carlson will be representing the state of Minnesota at the World&8217;s Largest Rodeo in Springfield, Ill., in July.

It features over 1,500 contestants from 40 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia. In addition to competing for over $200,00 in prizes, contestants will also be vying for more than $325,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named the National High School Rodeo National Champion.
