Funeral services for Charles L. Sanborn, 73, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore&8217;s Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Freeborn County Veterans Organizations. Chuck died Monday, July 9, 2007, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Charles Louis Sanborn was born July 6, 1934, to George and Alta (Nelson) Sanborn in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1952 and from the University of Minnesota in 1956. Chuck attended Officer Candidate School before serving in the Unites States Navy from 1957 to 1960.
After his discharge, he was employed at Streater and then attended graduate school at St. Thomas. On June 3, 1967, Chuck was united in marriage to Mary Ann Parkin in International Falls. He had been employed with the U.S. Government and as a registrar at Rainy River Community College. The family returned to Albert Lea in 1985, where he was employed at a service station on Front Street, retiring in 1990. Chuck was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Church of St. Theodore and an avid Twins fan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Albert Lea; his daughter, Nicole of Byron; sister, Carol Stiles of Albert Lea; brothers, Clint Sanborn of Albert Lea and Jim Sanborn of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
